Saint John of the Cross

Year:

Unknown

Current Location:

Moya del Pino Library / Ross Historical Society, Ross, California

In the late 1940s and early 1950s Moya experimented with abstract expressionism and impressionism. In his words, “Like other Spanish artists of my generation that had, thorough academic training and in Paris, joined forces with the Cubists painters, I have always been torn between abstraction and realism." However, "I painted before the last war a few abstractions but have come back more and more to the interpretation of reality in a direct simple way.”
